EDGE: The outside limit.

I’m exploring edges and boundaries. How do lines interact with them? Do they acknowledge or ignore them? How does the edge change the way I interpret the field? What do I do when I can’t see beyond what I think is the edge?

In today’s drawing I’m experimenting with a predominately black inner field. The stark filling of the void gives it weight. It really dominated how I treated the rest of the boundary. What happens when black becomes the field? What is all this abstraction for anyway?

Living the questions. (R.M. Rilke)

“But since why is difficult to handle, one must take refuge in how.” The Bluest Eye x Toni Morrison

Highs & lows. Whys & hows. I made it to sketch 50 despite this continuous emotional roller coaster of uncertainty. In my highs, I’m more able and willing to explore the question of why - digging deeper to better understand myself. In my lows, I don’t have that same capacity. I simply have to ask my body, how to maintain my practice and just keep going, keep making, keep exploring until I’m full again. I’m also reminded that having the time, space, and perspective to ask why is a privilege.
