To celebrate 30 years of my life, this series highlights the beautiful, challenging, confusing, and colorful experience of being a black woman.
Each collage features fragments of black figures, celebrating the different facets of blackness and femininity, and critiquing the monolithic representation of black womanhood perpetuated in media. The various compositions incorporate a balance of rigidity and fluidity to express the beauty that exists even as fragments within the societal frame.
